This candle takes its distinctive shape from a forcolà, the oar lock of a Venetian gondola. Fórcole are unlike any other type of rowlock because of the unique forward-facing position of the oarsman, who propels and maneuvers the boat with a single oar. Made of paraffin wax. Burn time 6 hours.

ABOUT JOHN MASCHERONI
John Mascheroni grew up learning the basics of furniture making from his father, a master carver from Northern Italy who came to the USA to run a custom furniture company. John, wose real passion was in modernism, assumed control of the company in 1960 and slowly began to introduce his own designs into the collection. In 1968, two of his designs ware accepted by MoMA for their permanent collection. In 1981, John closed the manufacturing business and, since then, has devoted his full attention to designing furniture and lighting for other well-known manufacturers.
